My thanks to everyone from the group who turned up and helped to support this event.
We had a very successful ladies day, attracting five lady bikers who are now motivated to take up advanced riding. Here, the ladies are being briefed on the merits of advanced training by PC Ian Miller from Derby & Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit.
We had a total of 17 bikes depart from Willington services. Our destination was the National Memorial Arboretum, where a large car park and cafe awaited us. We were able to sit outside in the nice weather and talk to the ladies about joining an advanced riding club and taking their test. None of the ladies knew that both the IAM and RoSPA groups in Derbyshire can offer the advanced training course for as little as £45, as this is currently heavily subsidised by the Derbyshire Road Safety Team.
PC Ian Miller treated us all by turning up on his Honda Fireblade police bike!
