On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 7th, 8th and 9th June, together with Tynrhyd in Devils Bridge, near Aberystwyth, Trail Rides Wales are organising a long weekend of road riding with the option of a half day trail ride. The self catering accommodation has been reserved for motorcycling groups from Thursday 6th to Sunday 9th inclusive. There is a large secure shed for the bikes, and the accommodation is extremely spacious with a warm drying area if Welsh weather prevails!
It is designed for families and groups, so if you are interested in this long weekend. If the event is popular and you would like to be catered for on one or more evening, this might be possible please ask.
The introduction to trail riding session includes hire of a Honda CRF250L (including a lowered bike for riders under 5 6) and enduro type clothing, which will be brought to Tynrhyd. The cost is £140, and licences will be checked online a week before. There are some exclusions for certain convictions, so please ask if your licence is not clean. The sessions are from 9.15am to 1.30pm and 2.pm to 6.15pm approximately.
Wales is a wonderful place to ride a motorcycle! There are sweeping A roads, bendy B roads and a myriad of minor roads in the area, many of which are very scenic. If you would like guiding for the road rides, the members of the Aberystwyth MAG group have indicated a willingness to be involved.
If you prefer to do your own thing, the base is ideal for a ride up to North Wales one day, maybe crossing the Fairbourne Bridge which is a permissive route for motorcycles, and/or visiting the Ponderosa bikers cafe for lunch; south on another day (Llandovery has a bikers cafe); with a half day ride around Aberystwyth on the same day for riders doing the trail riding sessions.
If anyone is interested, please email Dave MacGregor (secretary@derbyam.org.uk). Should there be enough interest, an event will be populated in the calendar.
