The EGM took place on Tuesday, 27th August, in 1930. The venue was The Hunters Arms, 23 Church St, Kilburn, Belper DE56 0LU.
In addition to the club members’ invite, fourteen recognised club members attended the meeting. Our area service delivery manager, Steve Ellis, joined us.
The meeting was short, and a committee of six with three officer roles was voted in. The results of the vote were:
- Chair (Officer) – Richard Ward
- Secretary (Officer) – Dave MacGregor
- Treasurer / Membership (Officer) – Richard Clauson
- Chief Observer – Pete Macrorie
- Ride Out Coordinator – Rob Collet
- General Committee Member – John Froggatt
I am sure you will all join me in thanking the former committee for their support and efforts through some challenging times, most notably the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdowns, which took its toll on IAM and club membership. My thanks go out to Claire Atkinson for managing the books as Treasurer and to Steve Gough as club Secretary, both of whom wanted to stand down from their roles. It is also great to see Richard and Pete continue in roles within the committee and the return of Dave. Rob, one of the club’s newer members, is not new to the IAM and currently holds a Master’s (with distinction). John is known to many of the club members as one of the club’s most prominent supporters, an active member, and one of the leading observers. Both John and Rob are welcome additions to the committee lineup.
The evening was wrapped up with a healthy Q&A / discussion between the club’s members in attendance and Steve Ellis. Can I please thank Steve for his time yesterday evening.
The committee will be meeting in the next couple of weeks (dairies pending) to discuss the next steps. This means the monthly meeting will continue at the current location and time. Any changes to this will be appropriately announced.
Consider this the next chapter in the history of DAM, and it will succeed so long as achievable goals are set and thoughtful planning is in place. This is the members’ club and here for you, so please do not hesitate to contact me or another committee member should you have any ideas and suggestions you feel ought to be considered. There is also more space on the committee should you wish to become an active part of the club’s future, something I do encourage.
