DESCRIPTION:Love life on two wheels? \nTake the chance to meet fellow motorbike enthusiasts at a free event designed to bring bikers together with the organisations who support them. \nThe multi-agency event is taking place in the main hall at The Grand Pavilion in Matlock Bath on Sunday 22 March\, ahead of the start of the 2026 biking season. \nOrganisations attending include BikeSafe\, Biker Down\, Derby and Derbyshire Road Safety Partnership\, Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service\, East Midlands Ambulance Service\, Mental Health Bikers\, National Young Rider Forum\, Derbyshire Institute of Advanced Motorcyclists and Bennetts insurance. \nRunning from 10am to 1pm\, the event will feature a chance to speak to those as passionate about biking as you are\, try Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service’s virtual reality headsets and sign up for a BikeSafe course. \nLight refreshments will be provided\, and there is also a café on site. \nThere is no need to book\, just turn up on the day.

SUMMARY:Motorcycle Road safety Event - New Mills 2026 'Get it Right'
DESCRIPTION:In August 2024\, we faced a heartbreaking increase in fatalities and serious injuries among motorcyclists in the beautiful Peak District area. In response to this alarming trend\, we came together in April at New Mills Fire Station to hold an event focused on education and awareness. Our goal was to offer valuable guidance on how to handle challenging situations and to foster a sense of community in our efforts to reduce these incidents. Thanks to the dedicated work of the police and our partners\, including the fire service\, Bikers Down\, road safety partnerships\, and many others\, we are relieved to see a decrease in these troubling numbers since then.\n\nWe understand that many of the incidents involve male riders aged 41 to 60\, particularly in the High Peak/Peak District region\, which remains the highest-risk area in Derbyshire. Recognising that many riders travel from nearby counties\, we want to extend our invitation as widely as possible\, welcoming everyone to join us in this important conversation.\n\nWe are excited to announce another event titled “Get it Right\,” which will take a more preventative approach. This time\, our focus will be on motorcycle maintenance\, appropriate clothing\, and essential road safety advice.\n\nWe want this gathering to feel informal and enjoyable\, providing a friendly space for bikers to connect with emergency services and supportive organisations—such as Biker Mental Health\, Road Safety\, Biker Down\, Fire Service Virtual Reality\, clothing specialists\, and professional mechanics. It’s a chance to come together as a community\, share experiences\, and learn from one another.\n\nLast year\, we were touched to see our event featured on BBC East Midlands and Smooth Radio\, and we have a feature planned in Motorcycle News to reach even more riders.\n\nJoin us on Sunday\, March 29\, 2026\, at Swizzles Matlow\, Albion Road\, New Mills SK22 3HA (What3words: vocal.ivory.misty) from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Entry is free\, and for the first 100 bikers\, we will offer a complimentary bacon butty as a gesture of welcome.
