Derbyshire Blood Bikes is a registered charity (1143149) providing an urgent medical courier service to the NHS in Derbyshire. Transporting lifesaving medical items including blood and blood products, biological samples and medication. We also transport donated breast milk into the NHS national milk bank, then used to support feeding of premature or seriously ill infants. If we can carry it safely ….. we will transport it!
We are a UK Registered Charity run entirely by unpaid volunteers. Our aim is to provide an out-of-hours, emergency transport service to the NHS, delivering blood and other urgent medical items between hospitals in and around Nottinghamshire.
It is the early hours of the morning and a hospital urgently requires blood. Currently hospitals within Shropshire, Staffordshire and Cheshire have little choice but to call a local taxi company to collect and deliver the blood. The hospital would then be charged retail rates for this “service”, which can cost between £200-300 per trip! That’s where we intend to help! Registered Charity Number: 1156212.
The Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance is one of the UK’s leading Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) Charities, funded purely by the generosity of people like you! We are not part of the NHS and not funded by the Government.
