Staffordshire County Council Road Safety offering £50 towards young rider training

Welcome to the spring with the biking season almost here, although there were a few bikes out in that lovely month of February. We have a new scheme for potential young riders this year which offers anyone from 15 to 21 years of age a £50 voucher off their CBT if they attend one of our Pre-CBT Workshops in Burton, Cannock or Stoke-on-Trent. We are working with selective training schools in these areas so they would have to complete their CBT with one of schools.

Our first workshops are below and we are taking bookings right now, they continue through the summer too. The scheme is for young riders who are resident in Staffordshire or those who work or are educated in the county. The workshops run in the evening from 6.30pm to 9pm with attendance required from 6.15pm:

  • Tuesday 17th April at Sandyford Fire Station, Stoke-on-Trent
  • Wednesday 18th April at Burton Fire Station
  • Thursday 25th April at Cannock Fire Station
  • Tuesday 7th May at Sandyford Fire Station, Stoke-on-Trent
  • Tuesday 21st May at Cannock Fire Station
  • Thursday 30th May at Burton Fire Station

We are therefore hoping that you will help to promote the scheme to potential young riders (repeat CBT’ers can do it too) and I have attached a jpeg promotional photo if you’d like to post on Facebook etc. Young riders account for almost half of all motorcycle casualties and the workshop offers them information on the Highway Code, ‘Rules of the Road’ and investigates why bikers become involved in collisions and how to avoid this. The pilot was successful and well received by young riders and parents alike, so we hope you’d like to support us with the scheme, thanks.
