Club Night – 14th August Onwards
For those of you that came to the August Club Night, thanks for coming along. For those of you who didn’t, we missed you, seriously we did! It was great seeing so many members and indeed to meet our latest Member to be, Ian – Welcome!
Sarah Sillars’ Presentation
We were delighted to welcome our IAM Regional Quality Manager, Peter Serhatlic who very kindly agreed to present Sarah’s presentation to the Group. There were some interesting points raised which illustrated how the IAM aim to bring motorcycling to the forefront of the battle against congestion on the roads and indeed how increased volumes of motorcyclists could enhance the safety of PTWs (powered two wheelers).
Our first ever Pizza Run was completed on Friday 11th August and proved a great success with 11 Riders braving the “good” weather, which turned out to be anything but. Notwithstanding that, the group arrived safely in time to enjoy some fabulous Pizzas from the Riverside Café. I’m sure all our riders went home a stone heavier!
As always a great ride lead by Gordon Constable – Thank you!
Thursday 17th August– NAM Group Ride out – Belvoir Fever Ride
Meeting at 6.15pm at Alfreton McDonalds. For further details see NAM’s website (http://www.nottsam.org.uk/events ).
I’m advised this is 90 miles of the finest roads through Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire and Rutland!
Wednesday 30th August 2016 – NAM West Carr Fish & Chip Shop Rideout
I’m afraid we weren’t able to provide too many details but should you be interested, please contact the NAM group if you fancy a jaunt out!
Sunday 3rd September – DAM Rideout to Holmfirth for lunch
Meeting at 9.30am for a 10.00am start at Waterbridge, Uttoxeter
An interesting ride (some locations dependent upon weather due to the fact they are high ground. Calling through Froghall, Longnor, Chunal, Staley Bridge and Saddleworth Moor – Stopping off in Holmfirth, heading back via Woodhead Pass, Winnats Pass and Millers Dale before ending in Matlock Bath – Approx 160 miles on Good Roads and Lanes!
We have two final rides planned, one will be lead by Peter Serhatlic at the beginning of October and then possibly the final ride of the season to Donner Nook. Naturally we’ll try and get a few more underway, but these are some of the treats so far for you to enjoy!
I was absolutely delighted to be able to present to the group our First Female F1rst Test Pass Certificate to Karen Luker and her Observer, Mark Collier. Karen achieved an excellent result with some fantastic comments from her Examiner, describing her as a “Natural”. I can’t wait to see what Karen achieves next. Karen’s success wasn’t really the only success on this occasion as Karen was also Mark’s first Test Pass at the F1rst standard.
I am really bursting with pride when I think of how highly trained our Observers are. Thank you to all of you who work so hard to help our Associates achieve fantastic results.
Dave McGregor was welcomed as our new Combined Secretary/Membership Secretary. Sadly due to work commitments Paul Goldsmith had to stand down so it seemed only natural to give Dave the chance to step up to the table and carry out both roles. I’m sure you’ll all join me in wishing Dave the best of luck with his new role and also thanking Paul for his contributions as our former Membership Secretary.
Sadly we will shortly be losing Mick Ford as our Group Treasurer, however, we have a new Treasurer currently in training who I look forward to introducing you all to soon!
Finally the Raffle was drawn and I’m delighted that our latest new member to be Ian was able to claim a Prize!
Next Club Night – Monday 11th September
There will be a short Group Riding Workshop at the next Club Night. Please do come along if you wish your skills to be refreshed or indeed if you’re wanting to do more riding.
